This course focuses on the benefits of engaging the workforce and establishing a positive work culture. Participants learn to recognize common qualities of engaged employees, understand what drives employee motivation, and recognize commitment challenges. The course concentrates on how employee engagement links to the bottom line by reducing turnover and introduces best practices for creating a positive work environment. Course participants learn the benefits of establishing a positive and engaged workforce, its characteristics, and concrete steps to creating one. The course explores how to recognize the signs and impacts of negativity, and how to take corrective action, if necessary, to engage employees. The course introduces organizational learning and its benefits to the organization and examines the role of training, knowledge management, and technology in developing employees. Participants learn about the pivotal role of continuous learning. By exploring the essential elements and indicators of a self-development culture, the course prepares participants to assess the workplace and determine its conduciveness to learning. Developing talent increases competitiveness and creates more satisfied, goal-oriented employees – which leads to a more profitable organization.

Methods and CE Requirements: 

This online course consists of a combined total of 3 learning modules. Individuals are eligible to receive a total of 1.5 hours of continuing education by completing all modules within this course. Participants must complete the media-based video lectures, lesson tests and all required course components to claim continuing education credit. 

Important Note: 

Martinsburg College shall furnish a written statement of completion to each participant who completes each continuing education program. The statement shall be signed by the instructor or an individual designated by the instructor and shall contain the name of the continuing education program; the number of credit hours; the date of the continuing education program; the name of the participant; and the approved provider number. 

The records for a CE activity are maintained by the Martinsburg College for a period of five (5) years and include: course announcement, target audience, course reference materials, course objectives, content outline or agenda with timeframes, evaluation tool(s), teaching methods and materials, instructor's biography, curriculum vitae or resume with qualifications, and a course participant list.
