Description
This course covers strategies and techniques for becoming a more effective and valued team member. Learners explore ways to adopt a positive mindset toward teamwork to make a significant contribution. The course addresses constructive ways to acknowledge differences and show respect for teams, as well as specific strategies for team collaboration. Course participants learn the methodology for effectively building and managing teams that focus on improvements in three areas: communication, cooperation, and trust. The course concentrates on specific strategies for improving communication and promoting collaboration among staff members working on a team. Learners develop an understanding of signs that suggest a lack of trust on a team and to show team leadership by using the right techniques to build trust and improve teamwork. This course builds an understanding about different verbal barriers to effective team communication and strategies for overcoming them. The course addresses techniques to improve listening skills when managing teams. Learners develop techniques for building and managing teams, including how to set effective team goals, identify roles, assess team members’ competencies, assign roles based on these competencies, and how to give and receive feedback effectively to improve teamwork by strengthening team leadership and collaboration.

Important Note: Martinsburg College shall furnish a written statement of completion to each participant who completes each continuing education program. The statement shall be signed by the instructor or an individual designated by the instructor and shall contain the name of the continuing education program; the number of credit hours; the date of the continuing education program; the name of the participant; and the approved provider number. The records for a CE activity are maintained by the Martinsburg College for a period of five (5) years and include: course announcement, target audience, course reference materials, course objectives, content outline or agenda with timeframes, evaluation tool(s), teaching methods and materials, instructor's biography, curriculum vitae or resume with qualifications, and a course participant list. |
